Outfit: Polka Dots and Florals

I’ve been so focused on sewing the garments for this challenge that I haven’t actually tried my hand at mixing prints. At some point I stumbled upon this picture on Pinterest and I knew just what to grab out of my closet to “recreate” the look.

I bought this skirt about five years ago at Anthropologie and although I love it, it doesn’t see much wear. I could never bring it past the sweet, housewife look to a more contemporary outfit. It needed something more than a solid colored top but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Enter one of my favorite pieces this season! So what do you think of my first attempt with mixed prints? Does it work?

  1. Cute outfit. Love the top you sewed. This outfit has a more casual fun look than your previous look with this top. That one’s more classic. I’m following your pinterest, you have lots of interesting and pretty pins.

  2. Looks good Lizzie! Love the shoes too, very cute! You hair is getting long again.

  3. It works great! I also love your shoes :)

  4. I love mixing prints, this is fun and unexpected…love it!

  5. I like it – it’s kind of Granny Chic! And I’m totally jealous that you seem to be having such glorious weather in December!
